Trade Wars 2002 Capture Door v1.00
Help File
This door allows the user to capture some of the TW2002 game reports
without entering the game. Users who can not enter computer interrogation
mode in the game (because their computer does not support the ALT sequence
or their communications programs intercepts the ALT keys) can now get the
data. For players who can capture the data inside the game this door
provides an alternate and convenient method for capturing the reports.
You can even use this door while remaining cloaked in the game.
This door supports TW2002 version 1.03(d) games. There are no plans
on updating it to support other (future) versions. Hopefully future
versions of TW2002 will have an easier way for players to access the CIM.
You can select which reports you want to capture. Each report can be
toggled between Yes and No by selecting the appropriate letter from the
menu. High speed users will probably just get all of them. Low speed
users may want to get just a few to cut down on trasmission time. The
following reports are available:
View Game Status
Deployed Fighter Scan
Deployed Mine Scan
Avoided Sectors
CIM Warp report
CIM Port report
Each of these reports duplicate what you would get in the game with the
exception of the following items in the View Game Status:
Version number: The Trade Wars version number is hard coded as 1.03d.
This is the version most games should be running.
Registration: The view game status will show the game as registered.
No attempt is made to validate the TW registration code.
There are three methods of output, one for local users and two for remote
users. The menu will only show the methods of output available to you. If
you have no reports selected you will not be shown any of the output options.
Create a file: Local users only. You are prompted for the name of the
output file. If the file already exists you will be asked if you want to
overwrite the file.
Download a file: Remote users only. This method will create a temporary
file named TWCAPD.TXT. When complete you will be prompted for the download
protocol. Available protocols are X-modem, Y-modem, and Z-modem. The
temporary file will be deleted after the download is complete.
Output to screen: Remote users only. This method will output the reports
to the screen. You should start your capture before you press return for
this selection as the reports will start immediately. The sysop screen will
be given a message saying the output is in progress but they will not see
any of your reports. Pressing the 'S' or 'Esc' key will abort.
